It has been one year since the release of the excellent Yooka-Laylee and the Impossible Lair, and what better way to celebrate this first anniversary in style than with a sale?

Today, developer Playtonic confirmed their retro-inspired platform game will be available on the Nintendo Switch eShop with a 60% discount until October 11th. The game was well worth its full price, so it’s even more of a steal now.

Yooka-Laylee and the Impossible Lair is the modern platform game that all Donkey Kong Country fans should get, as many of the key developers of the classic SNES entries in the series have worked on it.

The game isn’t just a mere rehash of gameplay mechanics from the past 30 years, however, as it comes with some unique features like an interactive overworld map in the vein of classic Zelda games and a unique level progression that lets players conquer the Impossible Lair even without completing all of the game’s stages.

Yooka-Laylee and the Impossible Lair is now available on Nintendo Switch as well as on PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. Never heard of the game before? Check it out in action in the trailer below.
