The original Super Mario Maker allowed players to use any amiibo figure to add the Mystery Mushroom to stages, which included costumes inspired by the used amiibo. Sadly, it seems like this isn’t going to happen in the sequel.
In a recent video by GameXplain, it’s been confirmed that amiibo support won’t be in Super Mario Maker 2. It may get added to the game with an update, but as of now, it looks like it won’t be included at launch.
Last week, it’s been confirmed through the game’s eShop page that Super Mario Maker 2 will support a local multiplayer mode that will allow multiple players to enjoy stages created by other and download locally.
Sadly, matchmaking with friends still doesn’t seem to be a thing, but things could be changed after the game launches and Nintendo received player feedback.
Super Mario Maker 2 launches on June 28th in all regions exclusively on Nintendo Switch.
