How to Make it Through Lake of Rot in Elden Ring
To make it through the Lake of Rot in Elden Ring, you must make your way from the Lake of Rot Shoreside Site of Grace to the Grand Cloister.
You can do that by running straight to the Grand Cloister while using heals and items like Preserving Boluses or Incantations like Flame, Cleanse Me to remove the Rot status.

But if you want to defeat the Dragon Kin soldier boss and obtain the Dragonscale Blade Katana, you must activate the pillars found around Lake of Rot to create platforms on which you can stand and avoid Rot.
You can quickly identify the said pillars as they have overgrown mushrooms.
Once you reach Grand Cloister and activate the Site of Grace, you can descend to the lower levels using broken platforms, as shown in the above screenshot.
You can make your way to the above-marked room while dealing with the Pest-type enemies to obtain the Scarlet Rot dagger, Scorpion’s Stinger. Once you grab it, you can take the left path and interact with the Coffin to reach Astel, Naturalborn of the Void boss arena.

Also, you can make your way to the Scarlet Rot waterfall in the Grand Cloister to summon Ulcerated Tree Spirit that drops a Golden Seed.
The only thing that makes exploring the Lake of Rot daunting in Elden Ring is the Scarlet Rot status effect. As mentioned earlier, you can use the following to counter it:
- Preserving Boluses
- Incantations like Flame, Cleanse Me
- Mushroom armor set
