What Are Shiny Boost Sandwiches in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet?

Shiny boost sandwiches are a great help if you’re struggling with finding a Shiny Pokemon, but each Pokemon type demands its own unique sandwich recipe. This can be somewhat challenging, considering there are more than 15 different Pokemon types in the game. Even though some of the ingredients are not that easy to find, making these Shiny boost sandwiches is more than worth it in the end.

You don’t need to get the recipe first as Shiny boost sandwiches are made in Creative Mode. Players just need to know which ingredients they need and find a way to obtain them.

Ghost-Type Shiny Boost Sandwich Recipe

To make a Ghost-type Shiny boost sandwich in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, you will need two types of ingredients:

  • Red Onion x1
  • Salty Herba Mystica x2

How to Get Red Onions in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet

Just like in real life, if you need red onions in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, you go to a store. This common item is available in Deli Cioso stores, found in all towns in the Paldea region, or in some other locations, like Aquiesta Supermarket in Levincia.

The price of red onions in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet is 230 Pokedollars.

It is important to note that this particular recipe will work only if you use red onions specifically, so be careful not to buy regular onions instead.

How to Get Salty Herba Mystica in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet

Up to this point, making Shiny boost sandwiches may seem like a piece of cake. Herba Mystica variations, obligatory in all Shiny boost sandwich recipes, make the process a bit more complicated. Since the shops in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet don’t keep Herba Mystica, you will have to spend some time and effort in obtaining this precious item.

The best method for finding Salty Herba Mystica (or its other flavors) is to beat the game first and do a lot of five-star and six-star Tera Raids. We recommend doing these with friends, if possible, since they’re quite difficult to win on your own. It might take some time before you have enough of different Herba Mystica variations for all the sandwiches you want to make, but, hey, anything for those Shiny Pokemon, right?

How to Make a Ghost-Type Shiny Boost Sandwich in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet

Got your red onions? Found Salty Herba Mystica? It’s sandwich time! Follow these instructions and you’ll be on your way to finding your Ghost-Type Shiny in a moment:

  1. Open the menu with the X button
  2. Select Picnic and arrange your table
  3. Go to the table and hit A
  4. Select Make a Sandwich
  5. Press X to select Creative Mode
  6. Select the right ingredients (1x Red Onion, 2x Salty Herba Mystica)
  7. Put all ingredients on the sandwich

Your Shiny boost sandwich is now ready! Have fun catching your Ghost Shiny and come back if you’re having troubles with checking if food buffs are working or with catching Pokemon in trees.
