You already know that Shiny Pokemon are rare. That’s why players try every possible method and resource that would increase their chances to get their hands on one. In Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, you have a new item that helps with this difficult task—sandwiches.

We bring you a detailed guide to making Rock-type Shiny boost sandwiches, but if you’re hunting for other types, check out our other guides, including those for Fairy-type, Ghost-type, or Dark-type Shiny boost sandwiches.

What Are Shiny Boost Sandwiches?

Pokemon Scarlet and Violet introduce a new fun feature—Pokemon Picnics, which can be set up pretty much anywhere. While picnics serve as points for spending time with your Pokemon or even partying with your friends, they also allow you to make different kinds of sandwiches that bring various perks and boosts.

Shiny boost sandwiches boost the Shining Rate, which means you will have a better chance of encountering a rare Shiny Pokemon. For catching a specific type of Shiny Pokemon, you will have to know the recipe for the corresponding type of Shiny boost sandwich. You will certainly want to make sure that the Pokemon that appears is not only Shiny but also the type that you need (in this case, a Rock-type Pokemon).

It is also important to know that Shiny boost sandwiches don’t follow pre-made, standard recipes, so you will have to use Creative Mode for making them.

Rock-Type Shiny Boost Sandwich Recipe

Without further ado, the recipe for a Rock-type Shiny boost sandwich in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet is quite simple. You will need two types of ingredients, namely:

  • Jalapeno x1
  • Salty Herba Mystica x2

How to Get Jalapenos

In Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, you can buy standard sandwich ingredients in different shops scattered throughout the Paldea region. However, different chains sell different items, so you might have to hit several shops if you don’t know where to go.

You can purchase jalapenos in Sure Cans stores at the price of 220 Pokedollars.

How to Get Salty Herba Mystica

While shopping for standard food items in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet is as easy as it gets, obtaining Herba Mystica is a different story. Your best bet for getting different flavors of Herba Mystica, which are required for all Shiny boost sandwiches, is beating the game and doing five-star and six-star raids.

In most cases, you will get only one Herba Mystica after a successful raid, so be prepared for some grinding if you plan on making a lot of Shiny boost sandwiches.

How to Make a Rock-Type Shiny Boost Sandwich
