Monster Rancher 1 & 2 DX

Loyalty is one of the most important mechanics in the Monster Rancher series, and it is always been so, as it has appeared in the very first entry in the franchise and continued to appear in subsequent entries.

The Loyalty stat keeps track of how loyal a monster is to you at a particular moment in both Monster Rancher 1 & 2 DX. The value starts at 0 when you get the monster, and it will increase, or decrease, depending on your actions.

As a general rule, you will want to treat your monster as nicely as possible to increase loyalty. This entails letting the monster rest between fights and not using it repeatedly over and over, praising it after it wins battles and in training, and feeding it properly.

The Loyalty mechanics are a little more complex in Monster Rancher 2 DX, as the stat is determined by two values called Spoiling and Fear. How to keep the two values balanced depends on how you treat the monster nevertheless, so make sure to praise when needed, and to scold only when absolutely necessary. To get a little Loyalty boost in Monster Rancher 2 DX, you can also feed a monster a Magic Banana, which can either increase or reduce fear and spoil while reducing fatigue and stress. Make sure you save before giving a monster one, as the effect you receive are randomized, and you may end up not getting a loyalty boost.

Winning tournaments is a great way to raise Loyalty, and there is no way you can win any of them if the monster doesn’t obey you, so make sure to show your love to it, and it will respond in kind, helping you becoming the absolute best Breeder ever!
