It is birthday time in Fortnite! During Chapter 3 Season 4 on September 23rd, players can celebrate Fortnite’s 5th birthday together with presents, balloons, and a highly decorated Battle Bus to enjoy. As with previous years there will be a set of simple and fun challenges to complete to earn some birthday themed cosmetics. Find out below how to complete the Fortnite 5th birthday event challenges.
Fortnite’s 5th Birthday Event
In previous years, Fortnite have placed giant birthday cakes around the island, and put birthday presents inside chests and as floor loot. Birthday cakes are usually found at named locations such as Tilted Towers or Lustrous Lagoon. We can assume this year will be pretty much the same. Consuming birthday cake slices will give you health and shield.

We will also see the return of balloons which will be available to find in chests and as floor loot. A pack usually contains 5 balloons and they can be used to float through the air: use more balloons to go higher, let go of balloons to sink lower again. If your balloons are popped while you are up high you will take fall damage.
The birthday presents are the same as ones we see at during the festive winter period, and they can be thrown down and entered using a pickaxe to see what loot is inside.
Fortnite Birthday Event Challenges
- Throw 5 Birthday Presents to receive the Sparklecake Emoticon
- Consume 5 Birthday Cake Slices in Different Matches to receive the Fuzzfetti Cake Backbling
- Use 5 Balloons in a Single Match to receive the Celebratory Slice Pickaxe
These are very simple challenges, and won’t take much time at all which is good because players only have until September 27th to complete the and earn the prizes.
