Bethesda confirmed that they have deployed a new update for both DOOM and DOOM II, confirming that a Bethesda account is no longer required to play the two games.

We’ve deployed a patch for the re-releases of DOOM and DOOM II, which now adds an option to skip the Bethesda net login requirement and removes the disconnect notification during gameplay.

Bethesda is not yet done with the matter, however. The development team is working on a solution to reduce the visibility of the optional login.

DOOM and DOOM II are now available on Nintendo Switch as well as on PC, PS4, Xbox One, iOS and Android.
