There Are Several Limitations You Should Know About

At the very beginning, it’s worth mentioning the restrictions. Firstly, you cannot delete the river that was on your island from the very beginning. You can place ground on them, but you cannot delete them.

You also cannot create your own retail outlets. This means that the river you created must be connected to one of the main rivers on the island.

The third limitation is that you cannot build the river in front of the tree, so you must cut it or eat fruits and replant the plant.

How to Created Rivers in Animal Crossing: New Horizons

Knowing the limitations, you can start creating rivers and reservoirs in Animal Crossing: New Horizons. To get started, launch the Island Designer app and select “Start construction!” Press + on the controller and select Greening Permit (1).

All you have to do now is press A and the cube of the earth in front of you will turn into water.

The riverbank will bend naturally and the following sections will merge as you extend the reservoir or river in the desired direction.

You don’t need to create water underneath to create a waterfall. However, you cannot create a waterfall on the curved edge of a cliff.

To remove a piece of water, simply press A while standing in front of it.
