As the frost melts and the snow disappears, it is clear Winterfest is over and it is time for a new season to begin! Just like in previous years, Fortnite Save the World has celebrated this fresh season with a Chinese New Year party. The latest update is said to bring Wargames, great skins brand new to Save the World, and the return of the Lunar Llama. Just like in previous years, the Lunar Llama will contain Chinese New Year-themed items and heroes!
All About the Luna Llama
In 2019 and 2020, players were treated to Lunar Llamas: the piñatas containing special weapons and heroes to celebrate the Chinese New Year. This year is no different, and Save the World players will get the chance to once again get their hands on these cute and colorful Loot Llamas in the next update.
In previous years they have contained new year themed heroes such as Lunar Ninjas, Lunar Constructors, and Lunar Soldiers, along with others. These all had special abilities like leaving fireworks behind when phasing, and the highly damaging Plasma Pulse Blast Plus.
The Dragon weapons are also returning, giving players the chance to get Dragon Spear, Dragon Launcher, and Dragon Rifle, along with the rest of the collection. Many of these had a perk that used a firework effect, igniting players and their builds and dealing fire damage.
A legendary Chinese New Year hero is also returning: Wukong! This regal hero with glowing eyes has the Explosive Rounds perk (leveled up to Explosive Rounds Plus for the Commander Perk) that does amazing damage to enemies.
Lunar Llamas are purchased using tickets which players can gain by completing missions during the event. Any leftover tickets are usually converted into the next event or update’s Llama purchases.
