A brand new event arrived for Pokemon Go! Players were rewarded with another Community Day event mid-February, with special rewards for completing tasks in a specific time-frame. The Hop Skip and Jump Away Special Research Story was available to purchase for the event day on February 12th between 11am and 5pm local time.
Hop Skip and Jump Away Community Day Event
In order to celebrate the Cottonweed Pokemon Hoppip, Saturday, February 12th was dedicated to them. The Grass/Flying type Pokemon is round and pink and has green leaves growing from its head, and usually lives in grassy areas, but sometimes strays into urban environments.
Briefly prior to the event on February 12th, players could purchase a ticket to attend the Community Day Event. For a non-refundable $1 (or equivalent), Pokemon Go trainers could enter to have the chance to get involved with the event, and all that was included.
During the Special Research event, the featured Pokemon was, of course, Hoppip, with an increased chance of spotting one in the wild. Players can then evolve Hoppip into Skiploom. If players evolved Skiploom during the event (or up to two hours after), they received a special charged attack for the Jumpfluff evolution.
There were also a host of other bonuses during the event, including:
- 3x Catch Stardust
- 3-hour long Incense
- 3-hour long Modules
- Surprises when taking snapshots
- 3 free Raid Passes for Gyms
- Chance to encounter Skiploom near a Hoppip
- Bonus Hoppip XL Candy when catching a Skiploom in a park
- Event-themed stickers found at Pokestops, Gifts, or Shop
- One-time purchase of special Community Day Box for 1,280 Pokecoins featuring:
- 50 Ultra Balls
- 2 Super Incubators
- 6 Star Pieces
- Elite Fast TM
