The Witcher: Monster Slayer has been only just announced, but some lucky players have the chance to try it out already, and see how developer Spokko merged AR and role-playing game mechanics.

The Witcher: Monster Slayer soft-launched in New Zealand a few hours ago, allowing users that have access to the regional App Store to download and try out the game. As the soft-launch version doesn’t seem to be region-locked, you can try out the game even if you do not actually live in New Zealand.

Reception seems to be overall positive, with players praising the unique blend of AR and role-playing game mechanics which make the entire experience much deeper compared to similar games like Pokémon GO.

The Witcher: Monster Slayer has yet to be released globally, so mechanics and balancing are sure to change in the future. Still, this sounds like a very solid beginning for the true, proper debut of The Witcher series on mobile.
