Momodora: Moonlit Farewell Switch Release Date

Find out when Monodora: Moonlit Farewell is coming to Nintendo Switch.

Momodora: Moonlit Farewell, the latest entry in the long-running Metroidvania indie series, has finally arrived on PC. This series has always released on PC first, and the console ports come later, so let us discuss Momodora: Moonlit Farewell‘s Switch release date.

When is Momodora: Moonlit Farewell Releasing on Switch?

The Momodora games are 2D action platformers that eventually added Metroidvania elements with the later entries, with the first game releasing back in 2010. Moonlit Farewell, the latest game, released on Steam on January 11, 2024.

Each Momodora game puts you in the shoes of a sacred maiden who is on a journey to purify the land. These games are challenging platformers that take lots of cues from retro classics, such as Mega Man, Castlevania, and Metroid.

As of writing, there is currently no release window or date planned for the Switch version of Momodora: Moonlit Farewell. This doesn’t mean the game is never coming, we just don’t know when.

One thing to keep in the mind that the first three Momodora games never left PC, probably because they were developed by a small indie studio. It wasn’t until the fourth game, Reverie Under the Moonlight, where the series went multi-platform, though that in itself took some time.

Reverie Under the Moonlight initially released on Steam back in 2016, and the console ports came later; the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One ports released in 2017, and the Switch port released much later in 2019.

We’re not entirely sure why the Switch port of Reverie Under the Moonlight took so long, but if we’re to assume that Moonlit Farewell might follow a similar schedule, then strap in Switch players, because it might be a while before the Switch port sees the light of day.

As a side note, if you happen to own a Steam Deck, Moonlit Farewell seems to perform perfectly fine on it. It’s not completely Deck verified yet, but it’s working nonetheless.
