The Witcher 3 is finally coming to Nintendo Switch later this year. The announcement caught many by surprise, despite the rumors taking about the game’s release on Nintendo console, as the Nintendo Switch is not as powerful as the other consoles, which sometime struggle to run the game properly.
The developer has to make cuts to make the game run on Switch, but it seems like all of its content will be in.
Speaking with VGC, CDPRT UI Coordinator Alvin Liu confirmed that the biggest changes for The Witcher 3 on Nintendo Switch will be for the user interface. Draw distance and foliage have also been reduced.
The biggest changes that we made involve the user interface and how you interact is a bit different on the Switch compared to other versions.
Right now there’s a bit less foliage and some of draw the distances are lower… but it still looks amazing. I was very impressed. Unless you pointed a lot of changes out to me I probably wouldn’t have noticed them.
Players getting the game on Nintendo Switch will be getting the full experience, and the developer is quite happy about how the game runs on the console.
You’ll get the full Witcher 3 and all expansions. We’re not really cutting anything.
We’re really happy with how Witcher 3 is playing on Switch. It’s still at a quality that we’re proud of
