Shin Megami Tensei V: How to Fuse Demons

This article is over 2 years old and may contain outdated information

Getting demons to join your party in Shin Megami Tensei V is more complex than it may seem at first glance. While many can be encountered in Da’at and convinced to join you by talking with them, many others will not appear as regular enemies in the game’s open fields, and the only way to get them to join is by fusing them via the Demon Fusion mechanics.

How to Fuse Demons in Shin Megami Tensei V

Demon Fusion is performed in the World of Shadows, which can be accessed from any Leyline Fount in the world of Shin Megami Tensei V. This time around, there are multiple options that make creating demons via fusion extremely convenient and easy.

The most basic Demon Fusion option is Dyad Fusion. Here, you pick any two demons in your party to create a new one that can inherit the Skills of both demons used in the fusion.

The second Demon Fusion option is Reverse Fusion, a very interesting option that lets you choose between the demons that can be created by fusing those already in your party. The Reverse Compendium Fusion expands this option further by including demons registered on your Compendium and the cost for summoning them. This option is great to complete your Compendium, although you will need quite a bit of Macca to summon demons required for fusion.

The final Demon Fusion option available in Shin Megami Tensei V is Special Fusion. This option includes special Demon Fusions that require specific demons. Most of these Special Fusions are unlocked as you progress in the game, as they include many of the bosses that you will encounter on your journey to reshape the world.
