Earlier this week, a new Nintendo Switch firmware update has gone live, introducing only a fix for an issue that affected only very few users. Behind the scenes, however, the firmware did something more that provided a hint for what may be coming in the future.
According to dataminer OatmealDome, the new 12.0.0 firmware update introduced support for a new dock for a new Switch model codenamed Aula. This isn’t the first time that Aula is mentioned in the Switch’s firmware updates, so it seems like things are moving forward regarding the developmnent of a new Nintendo Switch revision.
This isn’t the only new behidn the scene change introduced by the new Nintendo Switch firmware update. According to OatmealDome, the new firmware adds a new internal setting that clearing hints at 4K output support, which should be Aula’s main selling point.
With more and more evidence surfacing of a new Nintendo Switch revision, it’s almost certain that it is indeed in development and coming in the future. Nintendo continues to be silent on the matter, but as facts continue to pile up, it probably will not take too long for an official announcement to be made.
