Nintendo Switch Joy-Con controllers sent to Nintendo for repair will be fixed for no additional charge from now on, according to internal documentation.
Vice recently learned that Nintendo is instructing support service reps that all repairs for drifting Joy-Con controllers will be given for free. Customers who paid for the repairs in the past are also to be refunded.
Customers will no longer be requested to provide proof of purchase for Joy-Con repairs. Additionally it is not necessary to confirm warranty status. If a customer requests a refund for a previously paid Joy-Con repair […] confirm the prior repair and then issue a refund.
With the drifting issues being so widespread, it’s nice to see Nintendo finally taking action. If your controllers are having issues, don’t hesitate to contact Nintendo, as repairs are going to be free of charge.
Nintendo is releasing new Joy-Con colors later this year. We should expect the new models to be free of any drifting issue.
