Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl poster

Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl, developed by Ludosity and Fair Play Labs, is a take on the Smash Bros. concept featuring Nickelodeon characters. As you’ll see in the trailer, it does not attempt to conceal this and recognizes its greatest strength as the vast roster of characters from which it can draw.

The official trailer features SpongeBob SquarePants, two Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, and characters from Hey Arnold!, Invader Zim, Danny Phantom, The Loud House, and Real Monsters, Rugrats, and other characters.

Things that really sets Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl apart

  • Roaster of Characters

The characters in this game come from Nickelodeon’s most famous hit shows that have been out for the past couple of decades.

  • Mechanics

One can do consecutive grabs in land and air (as highlighted in the mechanic’s overview video). Also, you now have aerial smash attacks as opposed to just aerial light attacks.

  • Rollback netcode

It also contains rollback netcode, which connects devices for online play that offers a nearly lag-less experience. The last thing that sets this apart, and maybe weird, is that all the characters do not currently have voice acting.

What They Can Learn From Each Other?

Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl related scene

Undoubtedly, one of the biggest reasons that Super Smash Bros. has been so successful is that the characters of that game are characters that people love. For example, say Mario or Link or Kirby, they’re more likely to jump into the game because players want to play with the characters they already love.

We loved the fact that they focused on a more family-oriented game. Still, they’re missing out on a huge portion of their current player base, and this is where we think Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl is going to come in and disrupt that not only are they making a game that’s very family friendly, but they’re also making it extremely obvious that they care about the competitive scene as well.

Another good thing is Nickelodeon All-star Brawl has done is that they’ve interacted with players on discord. They have an open discord where people can ask questions about mechanics in the game etc., and they’ve done a phenomenal job at giving detailed answers to help them know what to expect in the future. This is something that others have lacked.

MORE FOR YOU | Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl Has Rollback

The developers of Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl have shown a deep commitment before the game is out, that they care about what we want in the game. We think the nickelodeon all-star brawl can and likely will be successful. However, we do not believe that it will kill or take out super smash bros.

It would be silly to assume that a single game could take out one of the most successful video games in history. At the end of the day, both of them will be successful in their ways. Moreover, the current competition b/w both of them is perfect for us as consumers because it will breed innovation and better decision making.

If Nickelodeon All-star Brawl makes excellent decisions that pull people from super smash bros, Nintendo will be left in a spot where they need to make better decisions to keep their community there, which is a win-win for us.
