In a new interview at PAX Prima today, Noriyoshi Fujimoto has confirmed that the next games to be released on iOS will be the first three Dragon Quest games. He hopes to have all three of them out before the end of the year.

“We are planning to release in the first part of September the first Dragon Quest,” Fujimoto said. “We’re hoping to release [Dragon Quest] 2 and 3 in order in a period of two or three months, in a short span. We’re planning to release subsequent numbered [games] — whatever is left — we hope to release that in order as well.”

Interestingly enoguh, Fujimoto san has revealed that the iOS version of Dragon Quest I will be a revamped version. The game is a pretty basic role playing game so it will be nice to see Square Enix trying to change it a bit for its mobile debut.

While Fujimoto san was obviously talking about the Japanese release of the games, chances for a Western release are quite high, considering the recent release of Dragon Quest VIII and Dragon Quest IV. We will keep you updated on the matter as soon as more comes in on it so stay tuned for all the latest updates.

Thanks, Polygon.
