World of Warcraft: Dragonflight‘s 10.0.7 patch is here to open up the Dracthyr starting zone, The Forbidden Reach, to all races. A whole new underground area called the Zskera Vaults was also added.

The Zskera Vaults contain mysterious new treasures and mechanics for adventurers to experiment with. The Vaults’ Runelock puzzles are one such mechanic. While they might be familiar for mobile puzzle game lovers, some players might have trouble solving the puzzles. If that is your case, here is how to solve Amethyst Runelock puzzle in World of Warcraft.

Solving the Amethyst Runelock puzzle in World of Warcraft

Once you enter the Zskera Vaults, you are greeted with multiple floors containing tons of vault doors. You need Zskera Vault Keys in order to open a vault door, and the game gives you six of them to start once you complete the introductory quest.

Vaults inside the Zskera Vaults contain a variety of magical puzzles and mechanisms that usually have to be dealt with before you can grab the loot.

The Runelock chest puzzle is a possible mechanic you may come across while opening vault doors. Runelock chests look like large purple chests with four magical runes floating above it. In this instance, Amethyst Runelock chests have the purple runes.

Interact with the Amethyst Runelock chest to start the puzzle. A board full of colored runes appears in front of you, and your objective is to make matches with at least three runes matching the same color of the runes above the chest.

Click on a rune to select it, then click on an adjacent rune to swap it. You can move runes left, right, up, or down, but not diagonally. Overall, the process is similar to that of well-known match-three titles like Candy Crush Saga.

Once again, the Amethyst Runelock chests feature the purple runes, so you want to match as many purple runes as possible. It is fine to match other colors, but they do not count towards your progress.

Speaking of progress, we did not spot a way to see how close you are to unlocking the chest. Just keep matching runes of the correct color, and eventually the chest will open.
