Compared to other tactical role-playing games like Final Fantasy Tactics, Tactics Ogre, and Disgaea, players do not get a whole lot of freedom in Triangle Strategy when it comes to unit customization.
The limited customization options, however, don’t mean that it is not possible to change a unit’s class. Here’s how to do so and what are the requirements for promoting units to a higher class tier.
How to Promote Units in Triangle Strategy
All units in Triangle Strategy come with their own unique class that cannot be switched out. All units, however, can be promoted once they reach a certain level by using two special items called Medal of Bravery and Medal of Honor. The first item is used to promote a Level 10 Recruit unit into a Veteran, the second to promote a Level 20 Veteran into an Elite.
Medals of Bravery and Medals of Honor are available in limited numbers in a single playthrough, if you don’t want to grind for them, so you will have to think long and hard about which units to promote first. As the optional characters in Triangle Strategy join Serenoa’s army as Veterans, however, you will likely have no trouble promoting all Recruits to Veterans in a single playthrough.
Medals of Bravery and Medals of Honor can be obtained in a variety of ways. They can be bought from the Tradepost with Kudos in the encampment, and they can be obtained as spoils during both main story battles and Mock Battles. Once a unit can be promoted, you can initiate the process at the Tradepost by picking the promoting option.
