In Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, Trainers can purchase food ingredients from markets across the Paldea region and try their hand at making sandwiches. Eating sandwiches grants you Meal Powers that give you temporary buffs, like increasing your chance of encountering a shiny Pokémon! Today, we’ll show you how to make a Water type shiny boost sandwich in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet.
Recipe for Water Type Shiny Boost Sandwich in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet
Trainers can set up a picnic table whenever they’re out and about, as long as the ground is flat enough. Walk up to your picnic table, then press the A button and select the Make Sandwich option to get started.
You can make your sandwich from a known recipe, or enter Creative Mode and build your own. The types of ingredients you use in your sandwich will determine what Meal Powers you get and how potent they are.
Thanks to a user on the GBATemp forums by the name of The_Time_Is_Nigh, we have exact formulas on how to make the perfect sandwiches for shiny hunting.
In the case of shiny Water type Pokémon, you’ll want to use Creative Mode and add the following ingredients, which will net you Sparkling, Title, and Encounter Power for Water types all at level 3:
- Cucumber x 1
- Salty Herba Mystica x 2
All normal fillings and spices can be purchased at Sure Cans, Deli Cioso, and Artisan Bakery, located at most major cities.
The Herba Mystica ingredients are found as rare drops from 5-star and above Tera Raids. 6-star Tera Raids can only be accessed once you finish the main story, and they have a higher chance to drop Herba Mystica.
Some Tera Raid Pokémon will drop all types of Herba Mystica, while others will only drop a certain kind. Since you’ll need a lot of the Salty Herba Mystica, here’s a helpful chart:
Tera Raids with all types of Herba Mystica
- Amoonguss (5 & 6 star)
- Dondonzo (5 & 6 star)
- Cetitan (5 & 6 star)
- Vaporeon (6 star only)
- Farigiraf (6 star only)
Tera Raids with only Salty Herba Mystica
- Garganacl (5 & 6 star)
- Orthworm (5 & 6 star)
- Corviknight (5 & 6 star)
- Avalugg (5 & 6 star)
- Hippowdon (5 & 6 star)
- Toxapex (6 star only)
- Dachbuns (6 star only)
- Klawf (6 star only)
- Pelipper (6 star only)
- Torkoal (6 star only)
And that’s it—you now have the perfect sandwich to chow down on when you’re hunting for shiny Water type Pokémon. We wish you luck on your shiny hunting!
