During the course of your adventure in Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin, you will be gathering a lot of different Monstie eggs. Not all eggs, however, are created the same, as rare eggs have a higher chance of producing a powerful Monstie. As such, finding rare eggs should be your top priority if you’re aiming to fight other players in PvP battles, as perfectly optimized Monsties aren’t really needed to complete the main adventure.
Here’s how to find rare eggs in Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin.
How to Evaluate Eggs’ Quality in Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin
Eggs in Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin can only be obtained by exploring monster dens, which appear randomly on the field maps. You will explore a few ones as part of the story, but these have an incredibly low chance of including rare eggs.
An egg’s quality is determined by its weight and smell. An egg can be light, normal, or heavy and can smell normal, good or amazing. Navirou will provide a quick evaluation of any egg you pick, and you can use these comments to understand if you have picked up a rare egg before reaching the stables, saving you some time. Generally, an egg that’s heavy and smells amazing is the rarest type of egg that will yield a Monstie with as many Gene Slots as possible and with better skills.
How to Get Rare Eggs in Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin
Getting rare eggs in Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin is mostly a matter of luck. Bigger monster dens usually feature multiple eggs, so explore them fully to see if any of the eggs inside is a rare one. Golden rare monster dens are more likely to include rare eggs inside, they do not spawn as often as regular ones. To further increase your chances, you have to use a Gathering Charm and offer a Finding Prayer, which increase the chance of finding rare items and chances of eggs granting rare genes to the monster it will produce respectively.
