How to Get a Higher Planting Boost in Pikmin Bloom

Pikmin Bloom from Niantic is an AR game that encourages people to walk and explore their neighborhood with a squad of plant-like creatures called the Pikmin. Walking helps grow new Pikmin from seedlings, plants flowers using petals, and helps Pikmin level up. Planting petals is one of the best parts of the game as it leaves a pretty trail of flowers behind players as they walk and boosts the growth of seedlings. There are ways to increase the planting boost while walking—find out more below.

Planting Flowers to Boost Seedling Growth

As you walk, your Pikmin will explore and pick up fruits or seedlings. The fruits are converted into nectar, which comes in four different colors: White, Yellow, Blue, Red, as well as some special flower nectar such as pansies or tulips. The nectar is then fed to your Pikmin, which makes them grow petals of the same color. The petals can then be used to grow colorful paths are you walk, planting flowers as you go.

If you have seedlings growing in your planter backpack, the growth is boosted by planting flowers. The longer you plant flowers in each single walking session, the more of a boost you get. The boosts start off as a 10% boost and go all the way up to 30% max. If you keep planting flowers and walking, your seedlings will be boosted, meaning you can grow new Pikmin easily and quickly within a day or two (depending on the size of the seedling).

Planting flowers also helps you discover new expeditions to send your Pikmin on. On expeditions, your Pikmin can find huge fruits or large seedlings, and can even send you a postcard from that area! The expeditions help your Pikmin gain hearts for their friendship level, which can eventually lead them to become a Decor Pikmin.
