How to Complete the Keeper of the South Sidequest in Shin Megami Tensei V

Shin Megami Tensei V features many different sidequests. Some are simple fetch quests where you need to find the required number of items, while others are combat quests that will pit you against some very powerful demons.

Among the latter is the Keeper of the South sidequest. Here’s everything you need to know to complete this sidequest without too many issues.

How to Complete the Keeper of the South Sidequest in Shin Megami Tensei V

The Keeper of the South sidequest can be initiated by speaking with Zouchouten after completing The Ancient Guardian sidequest. The demon can be found to the east of the Fairy Village, in the location highlighted on the map below.

Zouchouten will challenge you to a fight as soon as you speak with him, so make sure you are prepared before doing so. The demon is weak against Force skills, so make sure to bring demons that can use it to exploit its weakness. In addition, Zouchouten uses physical attacks augmented by Charge, so make sure to buff your defense with Rakunda or Marakunda and debuff its attack power and accuracy with Tarunda and Sukunda. Debuffing is particularly effective, so focus on it in case you cannot buff all of your characters properly. The demon also uses multi-target Mazionga after gathering Magatsuhi, so bring demons with Elec resistances or use an Elec Dampener when he does to null his attack.

After defeating Zouchouten, you will complete the quest. You will get a Large Glory Crystal and a Zouchouten’s Essence as reward.
