Among these mechanics are the Demon Essence mechanics that allow the Nahobino or any other Demon to learn skills without leveling up or without receiving them via Demon Fusion.
To use these Demon Essences, however, you will have to find them. Here’s how to.
How to Find Demon Essences in Shin Megami Tensei V
Demon Essences can be found in a variety of ways in Shin Megami Tensei V. The most common way of getting them is as a level-up bonus. When leveling up, Demons can give the Nahobino a variety of items, including their Demon Essence.
While getting Demon Essences this way is quite common, it is not particularly reliable, as Demons hand out rewards upon level up randomly. If you have some Macca to burn, however, you can purchase them from Gustave in the Cadaver’s Hollow. Please note that not all Essences will become available for purchase, so you will still have to rely on other methods to get a full Demon Essence collection.
Exploring the world fully will also allow you to get Demon Essences. Many of them can be found inside Treasure Chests, while others can also be obtained by checking out spots highlighted by your companions on the field, such as Amanozako. Just like getting them upon level up, this is completely random, so you should not really rely on this method to find them.
With a nice collection of Demon Essences, you will be able to customize your team further and get them ready to face any powerful demon that bars your way. And you will have to do so quite often in Shin Megami Tensei V, as the game does not pull any punch, even on the Casual difficulty setting.
