It can be very tough to try and catch ’em all, and while some Pokémon require new evolution methods, others cannot be found in both games of this generation. Oftentimes, even when searching for common Pokémon in Paldea, it can be hard to even know where exactly to look. So in this article, we’ll be guiding you on how to check Pokémon Habitat in Scarlet and Violet.

Fortunately for players, there’s a new Pokédex feature that makes it easier to find pretty much any creature in this generation via the Habitat. This can be done by pressing the flat-lined (–) button to open your Pokédex.

Alternatively, players can access the Pokédex from the map with the Y button, then press the X button and select the Pokédex from there. With the Pokémon Habitat, you can check any Pokémon that was recently caught or battled. You also get a full view of everything by simply selecting the main Pokédex book at the top.

Once there, tap the + button on a Pokémon or their entry to view their various habitat. This works even if you haven’t seen the Pokémon yet—as long as the entry is there, the habitat can be accessed.

In the case of a Pokémon habitat being unknown, you might have to obtain it from story events, breeding, trading, or evolution. Other than that, the Pokédex tells you all you need to know about catching a certain Pokémon, including the time of day, rarity, or whether they’re able to disguise themselves as other Pokémon.

In Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, the more a player explores Paldea and captures Pokémon, the more entries they unlock and get to check. These entries can also be used as a guide toward completing the Pokédex.
