How heart events work in Story of Seasons
Each character has four different heart events that come in multiples of two, so there’s a two-heart event, a four-heart event, a six-heart event, and then an eight-heart event. After you get to eight hearts with your chosen spouse, you can propose to them using the blue feather, which is the next heart event, so to speak.
Heart events are not required to get married, but depending on the answers you choose, they can be helpful in raising affection for said person. Since you’re supposed to get married by the end of the first year and some heart events have to be triggered by a certain time, it’s important to do these early.
Most of the early heart events involve characters coming to see your farm; all you usually have to do to trigger it is go outside your house. After that, they can sometimes be triggered by finding the person at home, at the café, or wandering around town. Keep in mind that some can only witnessed at certain times; for example, if there’s one that takes place at the café, chances are it won’t trigger until after 7pm. Weather can also come into play sometimes.
