GlowGrid Review (iOS)

GlowGrid is a pretty unique puzzle game, that looks just a bit like Tetris, a bit like a trip to the past and a lot like something really unique and wonderful. Puzzle game lovers will certainly enjoy playing the game, one that can prove to turn pretty epic and rewarding.

You start the game with an almost empty board divided into tens of empty squares. You get new pieces of different shapes, created by squares of different colors, that you have to arrange on the board thinking about the future: the goal is to create matches of at least 4 colors (or greater combos for better scores) and see how far can you go.

The game challenges you to beat as many stages as possible, and you know how close you are to beating a stage by looking at the meter above the grid. As you progress, more bricks that can’t be used for matches will appear, as well as power-ups to clear the board and new colors, keeping the challenge high and the fun levels as high as possible.

Even though mostly a slow paced game with basic concepts, GlowGrid proves to be pretty addictive and a product of the highest quality, perfect for puzzle game lovers. Also, if you want a bit of extra challenge, you can opt for playing the “Panic mode” which only gives you a few seconds to decide where and how to place the incoming shapes on your board. This mode was my personal favorite because playing any game while under pressure becomes a lot more fun.

All in all, GlowGrid is a great game for puzzle game fans who like their games challenging, with a dash of retro style and sound and with a lot of color!
