We’ve been playing Gears Pop since it’s launch and we’re ready today to share with you more guides to help you improve your game. And we’re starting with some basic, rather generic stuff right now: how to level up fast in Gears Pop and how to Unlock all Pins (Characters) in the game.
These are two very distinct guides, we know that, but we decided to group them together to make it easier for those looking for this basic info. And it’ll be fast and extremely useful, we promise!
Gears Pop: How to Level Up
There are actually two things that you can level up in the game and we’re going to talk about each of them. First of all, it’s the main character that seems impossible to gain experience for early on in the game. And second, we have all the Pins (characters or cards in the game).
We’ll start with what is the least obvious thing to level up in Gears Pop: your character. Especially if you’ve just started to play the game, you will notice that you have no extra XP gains, no matter how many battles you win or what you do.
Well, that’s because this is not how to level up your main Character in Gears Pop. Instead, you will gain experience with each upgrade you make to your Pins. And these upgrades come after you have opened at least a couple of loot boxes.
Whenever you level up a card, you will see that it will increase your XP (shields) by a specific number:
So in order to level up your character faster in the game, open more loot boxes and upgrade all the cards that you can. This might not be the best idea ever, though, since you will need resources later on to focus on your top cards!
Which brings us to the second question in the game, and the more obvious one: how to level up your Pins in Gears Pop.
We’ve already covered this explaining the general character progress above, but here we go again: each card (aka Pin) that you have unlocked will show a set of numbers under it: something like 0/4, 2/15 and so on.
The second number there tells you how many cards of the same type you need in order to level up the said Pin, while the first shows you how many you already have. So if it shows 2/15, it means that you have 2 cards out of the 15 required.
Once you have the number of required cards, simply tap the card you want to upgrade, tap it again to confirm the upgrade (it will cost you some coins) and you will be taken to a new screen where you will have to confirm your choice – and also see the actual effects of the upgrade itself:
And this is it – you now know how to level up your character, but also your cards in Gears Pop. As you can see, these two go hand in hand.
Gears Pop: How to unlock all Pins
You know how to level up your Pins… but how to get more characters in the game, in order to actually have something to work on leveling up?
Well, things are pretty much straightforward here and getting access to more Pins for creating that ultimate deck is mostly related to your overall in-game performance.
If you tap the Pins button in the lower part of the screen and scroll down in the new window, you will see all the information you need about unlocking all characters in the game:
As you can see above, the main way to unlock the Pins is getting to a specific Arena. For example, reaching Arena 2 unlocks 7 new characters, Arena 3 unlocks 6 new characters, Arena 4 gives you access to 8 new characters and Arena 5 unlocks the final 6 characters.
But simply unlocking them doesn’t mean that you automatically have them: it just means that you can be rewarded with cards from the said character when you open a Loot Box.
The easiest way for you to do this is to win Battles in Gears Pop: each Versus battle won will reward you with a loot box. The more time it needs to open, the better the rewards, but you will always find an assortment of Pins and coins inside.
You can also visit the Store and check out the Daily Deals, where you will have various Pins available for purchase for regular coins – and you can even find Pins that you haven’t unlocked already, although their price is really high.
Finally, you have the option to purchase one of the three available Gear Packs for Premium Currency: the larger it is, the more cards it will have. But have in mind that the Gear Packs are also rewarding you with cards based on the Arena you have reached, so if you’re at Arena 3, you can’t get a card that’s only available in the Arenas 4 and 5.
Overall, the entire process – even though time consuming and completely random – is pretty simple and eventually, you will unlock all characters in the game if you are active and play a good game.
Now that you have the answers to the two questions in the title, don’t forget to also check out our Gears Pop guide that will help you get the upper hand in battle and in the game overall.
