Mario Kart 8 Deluxe is set to remain the latest entry in the series for a little while longer, as Nintendo is currently working on additional courses that will be released this year and the next as part of the Booster Course Pass.
The release of additional DLC tracks, however, could pose quite a few problems for the online multiplayer mode, as it could potentially split the player base into two, with those not owning the Booster Course pack being limited to the base game’s courses.
So, is Nintendo doing anything to make the Booster Course Pass courses playable online even to those who do not own them? Let’s find out.
Can You Play Mario Kart 8 Deluxe DLC Courses Online Even If You Don’t Own Them?
Thankfully, it seems like those who aren’t going to purchase the Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Booster Course Pass aren’t going to be left out from the fun, as Nintendo confirmed on the official Mario Kart webpage that the new courses included in the pass will be playable online in Friends and Rivals races even if only one player owns them from March 18.
Even if you have no friends to play with, you will still be able to play the DLC courses from March 22 in Global and Regional races with anyone via Random selection. With this, Nintendo pretty much prevented the Mario Kart 8 Deluxe player base from being split, ensuring that players won’t have trouble finding players to enjoy the game online.
