According to Takahisa Taura, Astral Chain’s combat may have been influenced by his love of the Pokemon series, especially the idea of calling another character to fight.

In Astral Chain, the player summons & fights alongside a Legion. I really love Pokémon, so maybe the idea of calling on another character to fight alongside was greatly influenced by my childhood gaming experiences of growing up alongside my Pokémon.

Even though Pokemon may have been an influence, Astral Chain plays nothing like the series, as players will have to fight enemies in real time, and the action will be as hectic as it is in other Platinum Games titles.

Astral Chain launches later this month on Nintendo Switch.
