And one of the best things about Hogwarts Legacy is its day and night cycle, which makes the whole gameplay experience feel immersive and realistically satisfying. You’ll notice your environment changing based on the specific time of day.

The day and night cycle in Hogwarts Legacy is very similar to the one in real life, meaning it feels like a regular day while you’re playing. If it’s daytime, you’ll likely see more animals roaming around and trying to get by. At nighttime, on the other hand, you may not see any animals outside, or you can stumble upon dangerous magical creatures that you may have to fight to get past.

For instance, you could hear birds chirping and singing during the early mornings of each day, lighting up the interior of the castle. But when it’s nighttime, you will notice that candles and braziers may contain blazing flames that keep things shining indoors. Also, there are certain areas without any form of light (total darkness)—this is where you have to use your wand to brighten your path.

The game’s day and night cycles also affect the characters and NPCs. During the day, everyone is active and many halls within the school will be crowded with staff and students. At night, however, the halls will be empty, increasing your chances of encountering ghosts and other wandering students.
