Among the mechanics that have been tweaked for the fifth entry in the series by Atlus are the route mechanics that locked players into certain story paths, depending on the choices they have made. Shin Megami Tensei V does not feature routes in the traditional sense, but it still does feature different endings that are somewhat close to the classic moral alignments – Law, Neutral, and Chaos.

Here’s how to unlock the ending generally considered as the Neutral ending.

Like for most of the other endings in the game, you do not need to worry about the choices you make during the main campaign, as it is the final choice you make in the Temple of Eternity that determines which ending you get, with the exception of the secret ending which requires additional accomplishments.

To get the Neutral Ending, you will have to pick the I will destroy the throne option, thus aligning yourself with Shoei Yakumo and Nuwa. By picking this ending, and completing The Noble Queen sidequest from Maria, you will also be able to unlock the Danu Special Fusion, allowing you to get a very powerful demon for your New Game Plus playthrough.
