Who is Tsumi?

Players encounter Tsumi during the “Three Realms Gateway Offering” Event. She is dressed in the usual shrine maiden attire. Her attire is mostly white, except for a blue hakama and okobo sandals. Half of her face is covered by a bizarre snake mask that hides her unusual eyes. It is not known for certain who Tsumi is, but she is not a human. There are several opinions.

The first is that she belongs to the Vassals of Watatsumi, who were half-human, half-snake. In essence, these species look like humans, but their eyes have vertical pupils and they can communicate with Bathysmal Vishaps. Tsumi hides such pupils under the mask, and can also communicate with Bathysmal Vishaps.

However, there is another version. According to Enjou, Tsumi is the real Bathysmal Vishaps. Or rather, a special kind of them called Reptilian. This species of Bathysmal Vishaps was very intelligent and could adapt to any conditions, and they also differ from people with vertical pupils.

In childhood, Tsumi was attacked by the Vishaps, but they saved her life and she grew up with them. At the end of the quest, Tsumi confesses to the protagonist that she has finally realized that she is Vishap and not a human.
