Where to Find Protector in Pokémon Legends: Arceus

Pokémon Legends: Arceus was released last month after much fanfare and hype. It is the latest installment in the Pokémon series and takes a much different turn than its predecessors do in terms of storytelling and game mechanics.

The game takes place in the ancient Hisui region, which would become modern-day Sinnoh. Fighting and capturing Pokémon is drastically different with battles taking place on the overworld instead of turn-based instance battles, as was the staple of the series thus far.

Included in the 242 Pokémon in Legends: Arceus are some Pokémon that are stronger than the rest and have even stronger evolutions, some of them requiring special methods to evolve than just mere level-ups. Evolutionary items were brought back in Pokémon Legends: Arceus, and today we will be talking about the Protector.

The Protector is an evolution item introduced in the Gen-4 games of Pokémon Diamond, Pearl, and Platinum. Its sole purpose is to make a certain species of Pokémon evolve into their final forms that they could not normally reach through other means.

So far, there is only one known Pokémon that benefits from the Protector: Rhyhorn. To evolve Rhyhorn into Rhydon, the normal leveling up is required, but for Rhydon to further evolve into a Rhyperior, a Protector has to be used on it. But how does one acquire it?

Getting Protectors

There are a couple of main ways by which players can acquire Protectors in Pokémon Legends: Arceus.

  • Random chance drop in Space-Time Distortion Rift Fields
  • Purchasable from the Trading Outpost for 1,400 Merit Points

Since there are two confirmed ways of acquiring the Protector, it should not pose too much of a problem to players!
