Lucario is a Pokémon that was first introduced in the original Gen 4 games of Pokémon Diamond, Pearl and Platinum that takes place in the Sinnoh region. As such, Lucario is also a part of the Hisui region which is what Sinnoh used to be in the past.
Lucario is a steel/fighting-type Pokémon that fits a lot of classic Pokémon team compositions. The combination of these types makes Lucario a very coveted Pokémon and players playing Pokémon: Legends Arceus want to know how to acquire it in the game!
Getting Lucario
Lucario can be acquired in two different ways in Pokémon Legends: Arceus:
- Evolve from Riolu
- Catch Lucario
We will tell you the easiest ways to achieve each of these.
Evolving Riolu into Lucario

First, the player has to get their hands on a Riolu. Thankfully we have you covered here. Once the player acquires a Riolu, there is one last step required.
The player needs to increase their friendship with Lucario to high levels, but during the daytime. Once the required friendship level is met, there will be an option available to players to evolve Riolu into Lucario on Riolu’s summary screen.
Catching Lucario

Lucario can be caught in two different ways:
- Extremely rare wild encounter south of Snowfall Hot Spring
- Guaranteed Alpha Lucario encounter on Icebond Falls
Both of these methods involve going to Alabaster Icelands, which is where Snowfall Hot Sping and Icebond Falls are. Of these two, encountering the Alpha Lucario would be the far easier option, but players should prepare themselves for a difficult battle if they choose to go down this route!
As far as our recommendation goes, we suggest going for the Riolu method as increasing happiness goes a long way towards getting a strong and capable Lucario!
