While some of them may want to battle you, the others are simply kind NPCs that offer you the choice of acquiring a Fishing Rod! In a typical main series Pokemon game, you can acquire 3 different Fishing Rods throughout the story mode: the Old Rod, the Good Rod, and the Super Rod.
Needless to say, the Super Rod is the most valuable of the 3, as it will let you capture the rarest Pokemon found in bodies of water, whereas the Old Rod is mostly going to give you Magikarp, and the Good Rod will give you mediocre encounters.
Where to find the Super Rod in Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl?
If you’ve been having a tough time figuring out where the Super Rod in Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl is, it’s just like any other Pokemon game: a kind ol’ Fisherman will hand it over to you.
To find the Fisherman that gives you the Super Rod, you need to:
- Beat the Elite Four and Champion.
- Unlock the National Pokedex.
- Take the Ferry from Snowpoint City.
- Enter the Battle Park.
- Get to the entrance of Route 225.
- Talk to the Fisherman standing off to the right side of the path.
Once you speak to this Fisherman, he will ask you if you think the Super Rod is super duper. All you have to do is say yes, and he’ll hand you the Super Rod!
