Chapter 3 Season 2 has introduced a style of gameplay new to the battle royale game by removing the ‘fort’ from Fortnite. A no-build aspect has been temporarily added to the main Solos/Duos/Trios/Squads modes thanks to the developing storyline. This new mode has caused some discussion among fans who are divided into two sides: pro-build and no-build. Clearly Fortnite would not be Fortnite without the build aspect of the game, so building could not be removed permanently, but there are rumors of multiple modes giving players the choice.
No Build Mode in Fortnite
Currently, players cannot build in the main modes: Solos, Duos, Trios, and Squads. They can, however, still build in Team Rumble. Extra features have been added to help players move around the island and stay safe without the ability to build a protective wall, including an extra ‘Overshield‘ of 50 HP, and a few moves given to players to help make up for the lack of building:
Sprinting
Parkour Leaping
Mantling
Ziplines
Siege Cannons
According to Fortnite Leaks on Twitter, a permanent No-Build Mode will be introduced in a week’s time. This will be in addition to regular build modes that will be returning once the Resistance storyline has progressed.
This means we should see the return of building in Fortnite by April 2022, and an introduction of no-build modes alongside it. Whether wins in the new modes will count as regular wins, or will only count as LTM wins, we will have to wait and see.
