When Does Sonic Frontiers Release?

The classic, long-running (pun not intended) franchise by Sega was put back in the spotlight with the event, ‘Sonic Central’ having taken place recently. Among many things announced like a supersized comic book, a jewelry line, and a Sonic Colors remaster, there is a brand new Sonic game on the horizon: Sonic Frontiers.

What is the Release Date for Sonic Frontiers?

There is no concrete release date as of yet, but in the official Announce Trailer for the game, it was simply revealed that the game is set to release in holiday 2022.

What are the Features and Gameplay of Sonic Frontiers?

The Announce Trailer which was first shown during the 2021 Game Awards gave us the most information about the game till date, showing off the lush graphics, sick Sonic-style sprinting in a seemingly open world, with a few references and hints thrown in here and there.

The trailer shows Sonic dashing through  a forest while being chased by a menacing machine of sorts, reaching a beautiful area showing off the game’s gorgeous art style, while constantly traversing through regions sprawling with waterfalls, towers, and ravines.

The trailer concludes with Sonic going head-to-head with a gargantuan, beastly-looking creature, that players will probably have to face in the game themselves.

From what we could tell, and also what fans are speculating, is that Sonic Frontiers could very well be our first open-world style title in the franchise, simply due to the nature of the trailer. Other than that, there is no clear way to confirm any gameplay elements, as everything shown in the trailer was purely cinematic.

Sonic Frontiers is set to release for the PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, Nintendo Switch, and PC.
