For a lot of players, this would be where they put down their Switch console and call it a quits with Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl. But for some, this is just the beginning of a newer journey, a more competitive one.

To prepare for competitive battling in Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl, there exist a lot of items that make your time creating the perfect Pokemon team much easier. One of those items is the Bottle Cap.

If you’ve been wondering what does the Bottle Cap do in Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl, then this is the guide for you.

What is the Bottle Cap Used for in Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl?

Bottle Caps are items that are mainly used to make a competitive player’s time creating a viable team of Pokemon much easier. Bottle caps are used for Hyper Training, which entails maximizing the Individual Values (IVs) of a Pokemon.

A Pokemon has an IV number ranging from 0 to 31 for each of its stats which are decided upon at random when you capture it. Since it is highly unlikely that you will capture a Pokemon with 31 IVs in every stat from the get go, Bottle Caps come in handy to hyper train your Pokemon to that perfect 31 IV number.

A regular Bottle Cap will maximize a single IV stat for your Pokemon, while a Gold Bottle Cap will maximize each IV stat.

In order to farm Bottle Caps, you need to first beat the Elite Four and Champion and then earn BP at the Battle Tower to exchange them for Bottle Caps.

In order to use Bottle Caps to hyper train your Pokemon, they need to be lvl 100.

Once you’ve done this, visit the Hyper Trainer at the right-hand side of the Battle Tower and begin your Hyper Training!
