What Do Strong Style Status Effect Moves Do in Pokemon Legends Arceus? – Answered

So we know what Strong Style, as well as what Agile Style attacking moves do in Pokemon Legends: Arceus. You would think that this mechanic would only be applied to attacking moves. But such is not the case.

The Move Style mechanic can also be applied to status moves. Any move that does not deal damage to the target can be considered a status move. So how does the Strong Style affect these very moves?

How do Strong and Agile Style Status Effect Moves Work in Pokemon Legends: Arceus?

When you apply the Strong Style before using a status move, the effect of the move gets more powerful, while retaining the side-effect of letting your opponent possibly hit you back twice in a row.

So, if you were to use a move such as Howl that raises your offensive stats by one stage, it would additionally increase your offensive stats by an extra stage. Let’s say you want to use Poison Powder. If you use the move in the Strong Style, the effect of the poisoning is increased, which means your opponent takes more residual damage from the poison than usual.

On the contrary, with Agile Style, as you can imagine, you may be able to use two moves in a row, but the effect of your status move will be decreased: Howl will decrease the amount by which your offensive stats increase, Poison Powder will deal less residual damage than usual, and so on.

So the question remains: is there any reason to even use the Strong or Agile Style when using status moves?

Well, it’s completely up to you. You can easily get by the entire game without incorporating the Styles into your status moves, or make things easier for you if you know when to incorporate them. Just experiment and have fun with it!

What Do Strong Style Status Effect Moves Do in Pokemon Legends Arceus? – Answered

  1. But what about status moves that do not inflict damage such as Stun Spore and Sleep Powder? Does Strong style mean they are affected longer or more strongly (sometimes a drowsy pokemon may still attack) as to let’s say, make a pokemon fully asleep with no chance to attack with strong style? Also, since it doesn’t say that it doesn’t affect the pokemon anymore when a status has already been applied, does that mean they stack?

    • Hey Kaytee, for moves like Sleep Powder and Stun Spore, using them in Strong Style would mean that the duration the enemy stays Paralyzed or Drowsy increases, and vice versa for Agile Style. And as far as we know, using a Status move on a Pokemon that is already Statused does not stack the effect.
