What Determines Wurmple’s Evolution in Pokemon Legends Arceus? – Answered

Every Generation of Pokemon have had their signature early-game bug type Pokemon. For Generation I, it was the Caterpie and Weedle line; Generation VI had Scatterbug, while Generation III had the cute and unassuming, pure Bug type, Wurmple.

Wurmple possesses branched evolution paths. It can either evolve into Silcoon or Cascoon. Silcoon will further evolve into Beautifly, the fully evolved Bug / Flying type, while Cascoon will evolve into Dustox, the fully evolved Bug / Poison type.

If you want to know what determines Wurmple’s evolution in Pokemon Legends: Arceus, then you’re in the right place. Read on to find out the deets!

What Determines Wurmple’s Evolution in Pokemon Legends: Arceus?

There are actually no change in evolution mechanics when it comes to Wurmple and its branched evolution paths. Just like in previous Generations, whichever middle-stage form Wurmple evolves into is decided completely at random.

Yup, that’s right. If you’ve never heard of this before, then this might sound odd to you, the fact that you have no control over what your Wurmple evolves into. If you think about it, it would’ve made complete sense for Gamefreak to make Silcoon a daytime evolution, and Cascoon a nighttime one.

But Gamefreak makes questionable decisions regarding their best-selling game franchise all the time, so this is nothing new. In Pokemon Legends: Arceus, once you catch yourself a Wurmple, you have to train it up to Level 8 and just pray that it evolves into the branched evolution path that you want.

To save your time, you can simply catch multiple Wurmple in your party and train them up at the same time. This will give you high odds that at least one of the Wurmple in your party evolves into the form that you are looking for.
