1. Plurals save you in a bind!

Remember that you can add an “S” to just about any word to make a plural. This count as a new word, so if you’re ever in a bind and you can’t think of another word to make, just add an “S”! For example, you type in “apple”, then afterwards you can type in “apples”. Don’t forget this quick and easy tip, as it might be just enough to finish off an enemy who is greatly weakened!

2. Go back and replay earlier levels!

After you’ve cleared a couple levels, you will unlock the ability to earn stars. Stars can be found in previously cleared levels; you just need to play through them again. Most of the upgrades in the shop are unlocked by reaching a specific floor level, but some are unlocked once you’ve gotten enough stars. Take a look at the upgrade screen to see if you’re missing some upgrades. You’ll know how to get them then!

3. Use your items whenever!

When you first start out, you’ll only have 1 backpack slot to carry temporary power ups. Enemies will drop items that you can use randomly, but don’t hesitate to use them if you need to! The thing is, you can only carry one item at a time so if another item is dropped you’ll just walk right past it. A helpful thing to remember is that your item will carry over into the next level if you don’t use it. If this happens, you can even sell the item in the shop if you’re so confident you can do without it, or if you just don’t want to waste the opportunity if any other items drop. You can buy an additional backpack slot for 2,400 gold, which is kind of steep!

4. Use the right element!

Each type of enemy has a weakness to a certain element. For example, the corpses (don’t call them zombies) and the goblins you fight at the beginning of the game are weak to fire. If you’re having trouble getting through a level, consider changing your gear up! The second wand you unlock is fire-type. We also highly recommend buying the first star unlockable item, the Monsterpedia. This guide holds info on all of the monsters you’ve fought so far, including their weaknesses!

5. Save your big words for last!

As you know, once you cast a spell using a word, that same word cannot be used for the rest of that level. With this in mind, you’re going to want to try to save your big words for the bigger monsters or an emergency. Be especially careful of the “boss monsters,” exceptionally tough monsters who guard chests containing powerful items. Unleash your biggest words on these guys to take out ’em out hard and fast! Remember: the longer the word is, the more damage you’ll do!
