This article is over 5 years old and may contain outdated information

Ever since its release, Pokemon GO has been expanded considerably by developer Niantic with new content and features that improve on the experience in meaningful ways. And a brand new feature has been added to the game recently, a feature that keeps track of progress even when the game is not open.

The new Pokemon GO feature is called Adventure Sync. It ties into Apple Health on iOS and Google Fit on Android, but it’s possible to opt out of it at any time.

Thanks to Adventure Sync, progress will be tracked even when the game is not open on the device. It keeps track of the walked distance and hatch Eggs automatically. It also shows a weekly summary featuring progress and statistics. So, if you walk around a lot with your device and play Pokemon GO, this is the perfect feature for you.

Last week, Pokemon GO has been expanded with new content, and now it’s possible to encounter, catch and train Pokemon from the Sinnoh region. Not all fourth generation Pokemon are available right now, and they will be introduced slowly over time.

Pokemon GO is now available on iOS and Android in all regions.
