Yeah, you read that right. What previously took the world by storm was the gridded-word game that tested your vocabulary and knowledge of the English language. While some adored the game, there were many who played it simply for the trend and yawned their way through the gameplay.
Well, if you are more inclined towards subjects other than words—for example, math—then you might just be interested in the newest Wordle clone, Nerdle.
Nerdle challenges its players to solve a 8-character calculation in a mere six guesses. Just like Wordle, you start out with a blank grid. Tiles proceed to turn green if you guess the number or mathematical symbol in the correct position, purple if the number or symbol appears in a different position in the calculation, and black if it doesn’t appear at all.
While it may certainly be trickier than Wordle, math and non-math enthusiasts can both enjoy getting a different part of their brain jogged than what Wordle offers.
Nerdle was created by data scientist Richard Mann, who thought about the idea of Nerdle when in conversation with his daughter,
“The idea came about chatting about the Wordle craze with my 14 year old daughter. We agreed there must be an equivalent for us maths fans and a few minutes later we had decided on the rules of the game and the name. My son worked out the full list of valid calculations (tens of thousands of them!) and we launched it to the world with some help from friends and colleagues.”
