Mutatis, the SHUMP that Reacts to Your Real Life Environment, Comes to iOS Next February

This article is over 6 years old and may contain outdated information

On paper, Mutatis looks and sounds like your every day vertical scrolling arcade shoot’em’up. You control a ship that can move left and right and shoot lasers directly in front of it. You gotta dodge all of the incoming fire and ships to stay alive!

That would be fun and all, but there is more to Mutatis than meets the eye. The world of Mutatis is constantly evolving and changing, and it is all influenced to the state of your iDevice!

What do we mean by this, you ask? There are many different variables to consider, like if you are playing in a well-lit area or a dark corner of the room, or if your volume is set to loud or quiet, or even the angle at which you are holding your phone.

Depending on many different factors, Mutatis will change right before you eyes. Enemies will change shape and color, bullets will move faster or slower or even start curving, and things just won’t be what you expect!

Mutatis also features a neat little gimmick where certain enemies can be scanned by taking a screenshot with your device. When you do so, the enemy’s info will show up like a regular screenshot in your camera roll. Pretty neat!

Mutatis is currently in development and is scheduled to launch on February 2, 2020 on the App Store.
