MLB 9 Innings 17 is a pretty complex game, so we’ve prepared a primer to help you get started. Here is our MLB 9 Innings 17 tips and tricks guide!

1. Be careful with autoplay!

In exhibition mode, you are required to play at least the first inning. After you complete it, you can opt to enable “Fast Progression”. When this is enabled, you can fast forward the game to an inning of your choice. The computer will take over your team for you, but be warned. The outcome of autoplay will depend solely on how high your players’ stats are.

If you have normal or bronze level players, your team might not do so well under the computer’s influence. We recommend manually playing your early matches to not only get a feel for the game but also to increase your odds.

In League mode you can enable autoplay right from the get-go, and you can also turn it on in the middle of an inning. Once you get a couple silver and above players, you can be a little more lenient with autoplay.

2. Mix-up when you’re pitching!

When you’re up to pitch against your opponent, you’ll have five different options for your pitch style. Each style is affected by your pitcher’s stats, and you’ll notice a grade next to each one. You’ll see C, B, A, and so forth. Try to pick the ones that have the highest ranking as those are the ones that are most likely to trip up the batter.

Don’t use the same style twice in row; keep the batter on their toes! Mix up your strategy and always pitch the ball in different quadrants of the pitching box.

3. Wait for the right pitch!

On the flip side, when it’s your turn to bat, you’ll need to keep an eye out for these tricky pitches. MLB 9 Innings 17 is a little different from other baseball games. In this game there’s a transparent arm and ball indicator. As the pitcher throws the ball you’ll see it fade into view. This will show you roughly where the ball is going to end up, and it’s incredibly useful so stay sharp!

You won’t have a lot of time to react; be ready for anything. If you see that the arm extends out of the boxes at an awkward angle, don’t swing. Chances are that’s going to be a foul ball. Wait until you see the indicators line up right in the center of the box for the perfect hit.

4. Add some friends!

You can get a lot of bonuses by playing friendly matches with people on your friends list. Add friends to your friends list! If you don’t have any friends in real life that would be interested in the game, you can also just add random people. If you go into your friends list you’ll see a suggestions box with random people in it. You can also add people you’ve played ranked matches with in the past.

5. Train wisely!

When training a player, it’s recommend that you start out with normal training. Normal training only costs points, the normal currency. You should have no problem getting your player up to at least around level 5. At this point normal training will start to fail more often, depending on the rarity of your player.

If you’ve got a lot of points to spare, you can brute force your level ups. On the other hand, you can use star training which, as the name implies, costs precious stars. Star training however is guaranteed to succeed, so we recommend using it when you’re at very high levels.

That would be, for now, our guide on MLB 9 Innings 17. We’ll be back soon with another guide, but until then if you have any other tips or tricks to share let us know in the comments below!
