Metroid Dread: How to Get the Varia Suit

To fully explore planet ZDR in Metroid Dread, Samus will have to find multiple suits that will allow her to resist extreme conditions. Without the proper suit, entering areas featuring extreme heat or cold will damage her progressively, making it impossible to proceed.

Here’s where to find the first suit, the Varia Suit, and how it aids Samus in her quest.

How to Get the Varia Suit in Metroid Dread

The Varia Suit is found in Artaria, in the location shown on the map above. This area can be accessed after defeating the Green E.M.M.I. and obtaining the Morph Ball upgrade in Cataris, follow the narrow pathways to reach a Red Teleportal to Artaria, and proceed until you find the Chozo Statue holding the Varia Suit.

The Varia Suit is required to complete the game, so it cannot be missed.

What Does the Varia Suit Do?

The Varia Suit increases Samus’ defense, so you will receive less damage from all enemy attacks, and makes it possible to explore areas that feature extreme heat without losing health. The Varia Suit, however, doesn’t protect Samus from lava, so you will have to avoid falling into pools until you get hold of another upgrade.
