Can you play BattleBit Remastered on the Steam Deck?

Currently, if you browse to the BattleBit Remastered store page on your Steam Deck, you will see that the game has a Steam Deck rating of unknown. This means that Valve has not tested the game enough to give it an official rating, but players are more than welcome to try it for themselves.

Taking a quick look on the BattleBit Remastered Steam general discussion board, it seems like the game runs pretty well on the Steam Deck. At least, for the time being, as BattleBit Remastered currently uses Easy Anti-Cheat, or EAC, as its current defense against cheaters.

EAC runs fine through Proton, which is Valve’s way of handling DirectX games to Vulkan. Essentially, Proton makes a number of games able to run on the Steam Deck, and Battlebit Remastered is one of them.

However, some community forum mods have stated that BattleBit Remastered will eventually switch to another anti-cheat application called FACEIT. Unfortunately, FACEIT does not seem to be compatible with Proton, so whenever they make the full move over, BattleBit Remastered might have issues starting up on Steam Deck.

Though, there is a bright side to this. According to one of the mods on this post, community servers can opt to continue using EAC after the FACEIT implementation happens, which theoretically means that Steam Deck users should still be able to keep playing. There is no confirmed time or date as to when the FACEIT integration is going to happen, so stay tuned for more details.
